Dehem Cup V - REVISITED

At least you can’t say that every trip seems the same. Wow. Some incredibly unfortunate circumstances, and yet still a fantastic time. But the Dehem Cup is bigger than one person.
As long as more than one are gathered in its name (forgive the blasphemy), Dehem Cup will go on.

Top Ten Highlights: (only 10 since I missed over half the trip laying in bed drugged on Bo’s Advil and the Hostess “extra strength” unidentified pain pills.)

10. Tame Wildlife – Jeff fed the deer Doritos from his hand, while Ron wondered while munching on his sandwich why deer #60 was starring at him and drooling
9. Scary Wildlife – Alligators…unbelievable how many and how large they were.
8. Lost Balls – never in my life have I emptied out my bag so fast.
7. Scenery – prettiest course we have played.
6. Best Hole – #9 running along the ocean.
5. Competition – despite the adjustments in the format due to uncontrollable circumstances, the closest Dehem Cup ever
4. Handicapping – although some matches could have given one or two more or fewer, there were tons of close matches. Kudos to the captains for getting it right…and for the Sunday night session (that I wish I could have been a part of)
3. Diminishing Returns on Golf/Bodies – As we get older, the 2nd round on Sunday is getting marginally worse and the aches and pains as well. We may need a format adjustment on Dehem Cup VI if we plan on making it to Monday.
2. Grill Out – Great idea from the ST. Good decision in taking the initiative and getting it together, which actually leads into the number one highlight…
1. Relay Races – NT vs. ST. I hope that video does it justice, but I doubt it. I can’t remember who said it, but it was quoted as “Ben shuffled backwards on that last relay the way David walked with crotch rot forwards in Dehem Cup 2.” Couldn't have put it any better.

Usually I go ahead and pick the theme using my commissioner power, but I feel that I need help considering my absence, here is a list, I need a vote. Majority Rules:
A. Dehem Cup V - End User: Junk Released
B. Dehem Cup V - Relay For Life
C. Dehem Cup V - The Day the Music Died
D. Dehem Cup V - Look, a Deer!
E. Dehem Cup V - (write in)

All good choices. But in honor of McDaniel and Banana missing their first Dehem Cup. I vote for The Day the Music Died.

I really like End User Junk Released and look a Deer. I only caught myself saying these everyday multiple times. Another one to add which I heard a lot was "Hogies and Grinders." However to wrap the whole weekend up you can't go wrong with the Day the Music Died.

My Vote The day the music died. Nate

i still can't believe i missed it.

i suggested "The Day the Music Died" not b/c of me & Tripp, but because of all the death and sickness. Manish, i appreciate the tribute.

I like End User: Junk Released, but with wording more like "Junk released by User action." I think "action" adds a little somehting to the phrase. - Joe

I had assumed that the Day the Music Died was in reference to Chad, Tripp, McCurry, coupled with the whole sickness and family deaths, etc. Hoagies and Grinders was a refernce to Jeff's near audible grinding.

I'm a big fan of all of them really, although if you didn't play with Nate or weren't near him much, the "DEER!" thing might not have as much meaning. If you did though, it does.

If pressed though, i think the day the music died will be more representative. Maybe, "The Day the Music Died, as sponsored by Athens First" or whatever Meyur kept pushing on us.

I'm a little upset my 180 yard "hole in" from the rough with a $1 side bet from Bo didn't even get a consideration for the top 10. 180 yds from an almost Chad and I get nothin... I'm sorry I did get something, Bo's $1.

My vote as an inactive participant this year would be the End User: Junk Released. I think we save the "The Day the Music Died" for the year that the Southies (if it ever happens) take the Cup. But I am humbled at the homage.

Meyur and I kind of liked "tight and wet." It speaks to both the course layout and the south teams vaginas.

and if for some reason my sister(RIP) ever decides to haunt anyone...I hope it's Bo.

You know, I'm changing my vote to Junk Released by User Action. To me it really sums up the entire experience. All the randoms: Deer and deer shit on every tee, the sprawling out of gators on every hole, snakes, shanks, hooks, slices, duffs, David's gas, Brad's taco bell disease, Ben's crotch split before every swing, 3 pu...nevermind, I'll shutup.

I'll write one in. I'll go for "What the Fripp!" I think that sums up just about everything that went on also. Two grandfather in laws passing away the same weekend...."what the fripp." Tagged dear...."what the fripp." Gators galore..."what the fripp." Jeff just holed out from 180 after not advancing it 15 yards...."what the fripp!" 14 "men" having a relay race down a fairway in the middle of the night...."what the fripp."

I also like Junk Released by User Action as a second choice.

I'm with Mitch. "What the Fripp" Junk released... blah, blah is to long.

I can go with any of them. I didn't go, and therefore don't feel worthy of a vote.

Kitchell's sister was always very special. But I am not sure about "tight and wet". I want to be able to tell my kids about this trip at some point. My vote is either end user or the day the music died. Anonymous Ben
